We awoke to a dusting of snow on the ground.
After such disrupted sleep, getting started in the morning was a task. I got up and paid the correct amount to be able to stay (and got my drivers' license back). Debbie slept. I wrote in my diary and prepared new pages to upload when the opportunity would arise.
We moved the van inside the campground, had our breakfast (scrambled eggs with cheese along with mushrooms (left over from the previous night) and some bread and tea). We had our showers (good and hot in a "greenhouse" type building that was quite warm.
After rearranging the contents of the van we drove through the tiny vacation town of Renesse. We made it out to the dunes and went for a walk along the beach of the North Sea, along with many others enjoying the sunny day. There, a number of people had brought their horses and dogs.
The tiny waves of the North Sea rolled up along the hard-packed sand of the beach.
Our official photo of the day (on the shore of the North Sea):
In Delft it seems that "The Girl With the Pearl Earring" has done much for the local economy; her portrait appears on any number of different ceramic objects.
Wandering the side streets and canals of the old town, we chanced upon a little synagogue built as a classical Greek temple. A concert had just ended there and we enjoyed its simple beauty for a few moments.
Of course on Sunday the factory and its store were closed, but we found our way into the old town and wandered around a bit before heading south to our campsite outside of Antwerp.
Because we wanted to be in Paris for Purim with Tom and Bebe (American rabbis married to each other (he's from Portland), we had to set out south to find a campsite for the night. I had set my sights on one outside of Antwerp. We arrived after hours again, but, here there was a sign on the door indicating that we should simply hook up and check in in the morning. And so we did. We found one other camper with lights on (at dusk), a couple from England, who showed me where we could park and plug in. We did so and we even had electricity for the computer. So, that night we took more notes, worked on some of the pages ready to post and listened to some Mozart and Chopin (using the computer and iTunes).
