I had mentioned a while back the dearth of leaflets for distribution
by college students. I've put the together a number of PDF files
you can download, duplicate and distribute. (Or, feel free to
send the PDF files to others, or link to this page.) For those
who want to modify the text, I've added raw text files you can
use. This material is "anti-copyright". Please use
and distribute.
There are as of this date (Wednesday, October 2, 2002) 21 leaflets.
Leaflet 2002:01
Our Memories Are Short. How Real Are Their Promises?
Most people forget that the "Occupied Territories"
were occupied by Israel only as a result of what is known as
"The Six Days War" in June of 1967. Before then, they
were occupied by Egypt and Jordan, and no one complained on behalf
of the Palestinians |

Leaflet 2002:01
Who's the Underdog? What's Aggression?
We read about "Israeli aggression" every day. Do we
understand what that means? Most students were born into the
reality of Israeli occupation, but that wasn't always so. Perhaps
another approach is also called for. |

An Open Letter to the World
by Ariel Ben Attar, Israel
I understand that you are upset by us, here in Israel. Indeed,
it appears that you are quite upset, even angry. (Outraged?)
Indeed, every few years you seem to become upset by us.
....
And since we know that the Arabs-Palestinians dream daily of
that extinction, we will do everything possible to remain alive
in our own land. If that bothers you, dear world, well - think
of how many times in the past you bothered us. In any event,
dear world, if you are bothered by us, here is one Jew in Israel
who could not care less. |

For more serious reading:
A History Of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, by Mark
Tessler (Indiana University Press).
According to Adam Rubin, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor of Jewish
History, Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion,
Los Angeles, California) "Tessler assumes that both Israeli
Jews and Palestinian Arabs have legitimate rights. He examines
the origins of modern Zionism and Arab nationalism in the nineteenth
century, but devotes most of his attention to period from the
First World War to the Oslo Accords."
