We spent our first full day in Biarritz-Bayonne walking to the Planète Musée du Chocolat (The Planet Chocolate Museum), then through “downtown” and back along the shoreline. This overlooks the old marina.
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
We explored Bayonne and spent time in the municipal library xeroxing copies of archival materials about the Jews and chocolate in the city.
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Our last evening in the Biarritz-Bayonne area, we had dinner at a lovely little seaside restaurant in Guethery we learned about from Philippe and Monica who we met on our trip down the Nile.
Thursday, June 14, 2007
Sorry, no portrait today in Toulouse.
Friday, June 15, 2007
We visited the medieval city of Carcassone on our way from Toulouse to Narbonne… then to Perpignon’s suburb, Canet, for Shabbat.
Saturday, June 16, 2007
A restful Shabbat walking along the beach in Canet (a 5 minute walk from our van). Those are the Pyrenees behind us… we’ll cross them on Sunday on our way back to Spain.
Sunday, June 17, 2007
Leaving France via the coastal road along the edge of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean we bought some wine at a roadside stand along the edge of a clif, then continued on to Girona (Gerona) where we visited the sweet little Jewish museum. We took our picture in its courtyard before continuing on to Barcelona for some exploration and camping 30 meters from the edge of the sea.
