Paintings of Nathan Hurvitz
Nathan Hurvitz left a rather unusual Yerushe.
After his heart attack he took up painting as “therapy”.
I don’t remember the exact sequence of these paintings, but, clearly there was a development from simple to more complex.
These seem to have been “studies” on paper:
Each of these (painted on board) has a name:
Blood On the Wall
Heart Attack with Ulcer
Complex Ulcer
The Bloody Menorah
One more, significantly more complex and from a slightly later period, hung in his office and, after he retired in the Hurvitz home. Mom continued to display it in her living room in her apartment at Seacrest and it also hung in her room opposite her bed after her stroke. I do not have a photograph of this one (yet).
