Today's report is by Rebecca Littman.
We're on the bus to Eilat today.
We just stopped to look at a terrific view. We saw a kid whipping his donkey. Poor donkey! We also could see the Dome of the Rock and the gold dome was very beautiful. We could also see hotels, buildings, cranes, and many other amusing sights.
Next we got on the bus.
The destination was Qumran. Once we got there we heard about the history of the archeological site. As we looked up, there were many caves and that is where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. Our group walked around an old village of the Essenes.
Then we were off to the waterfall at in Ein Gedi. Before we walked up, we stopped to get water for a small hike. The little waterfalls were magnificent and the one at the very top was even better. The moss-covered rocks were sprinkled with water from above. On our walk up and down, we saw mountain goats and even a rabbit.
Then we stepped onto the bus once again and on to Massada. My mom, Danny, and his dad hiked up while the rest of us took the cable car. At the top we saw King Herod's palace. The bathing room was especially interesting. It had three different parts to it; a cold room, a medium room, and a hot room. Because of construction we couldn't walk down and the wait for the cable car took forever.
Afterward, we took a short ride to the Dead Sea. We ate quickly at the Dead Sea cafeteria and then some of us brave souls went in and floated. It was fun and I really enjoyed it!!
When we got back on the bus, we passed the salt mountains and drove another two hours to Eilat.
In Eilat we checked into our nice hotel and all scattered to eat dinner. It has been a great day!
